PITNER DRILLING & PUMP HISTORY
Don Pitner began working in the drilling industry in 1961. In the 1970s Don bought into a drilling company in Washington State. During this time, Don drilled many wells for municipalities, cities, and development companies in Washington and Oregon, along with domestic household wells for private land owners. Don eventually sold his shares in that company back to the founding family and started his own drilling company, Pitner Drilling. During the early years of Pitner Drilling, Don took the company to Arlington Oregon to drill for Waste Management. Over the course of around nine years, Don drilled approximately 500 wells.
In the early 1990s, Don moved the company back to Washington State. Out of necessity for high quality service of his wells being drilled for domestic customers, Don decided to start installing pumps in the wells his company drilled. Since then, the company has become a full service drilling and pump company, Pitner Drilling & Pump.
A Family Business
Don Pitner is the father of six childern - three girls and three boys. Over the course of Don's drilling career, all six of his children have worked in the family business. All of Don's boys are drillers.
Mike Pitner is Don's youngest son and has worked for Don since he was old enough to do so. Mike now has two boys of his own. Mike received his drillers license in 1995 at the age of 22. Over the course of the past 15 years, Mike has earned a partnership in Pitner Drilling & Pump.
Mike has now taken over the leadership of Pitner Drilling & Pump, while Don remains an active participant of the company.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does it cost to drill a well?
Well drilling costs vary from location to location and depend on what formations are being drilled through, and the drilling method used in your area. Give our office a call and we will help you determine which method is needed and what formations are present in your area.

How do you determine what type of pump needs to go in my well?
The pump type depends on the depth, gallons per minue, and static water level in your well.

Do I need a permit to have a well drilled?
Yes. The State of Washington calls the permit a "Notice of Intent" and the cost is $200.00. Our office will handle all of the paperwork for you. In Clark County, there is also a Well Site Evaluation fee of $200.00. Again, our office will handle all of the paperwork required for this permit.

Do you have any additional resources available with information regarding the well drilling process?
Take a look at the Washington State Homeowner's Guide To Well Construction, published by the Washington State Department of Ecology.

How deep will you need to drill for my well?
Well depths vary according to location. Please call our office and we can help you determine how deep we may need to drill for your well. If you are located in Washington State and you'd like to see how deep other wells are in your area, please enter your street name and county below and we will redirect you to the Washington Department of Ecology Well Log website.
